I’ll eventually be consistent at this, really. For now though, I’ll  be okay with the sporadic posting.  If by some nutty chance, someone other than me is reading this, I hope you will be too!

I know January is typically the month for resolutions. New beginnings, and renewed hope in things that may have become hopeless throughout the course of the past year. I find that it’s good practice to re-visit the idea of  “resolving” things around this time of year too. It’s spring, the weather warms up, and things that have been dormant all winter, come to life again.

With that sentiment in  mind, I have been trying to breathe some “new” life into my old stuff! It always happens around spring. That itch to clean out drawers and closets, purge, spruce up the place where I spend so much time. The problem, at least for me, is that inevitably, I want to get rid of my ratty old carpet, my drab curtains, all my furniture, and pretty much everything in the house. I have grand ideas about re-painting all the walls, and finally getting around to fixing all those things that, well, need fixing.

Then reality (aka: my empty pocketbook) bites, and boy does it ever. It’s times like these I find myself wishing that a big bag of money would miraculously fall out of the sky, and land right in my lap. In this regularly occurring fantasy of mine, I am able to march right into Home Goods and shop with wild abandon. Since, the aforementioned scenario, is truly a fantasy, I usually just find myself sweetly mentioning to Oscar that the chair in the corner could really use a little “face-lift.” Which in Vanessa-ese means, a can of spray paint and/or fabric will be involved in some way. And so has been the state of things around my little house lately. Throw in some baking, a couple of kids yelling “I’ll do it!”  “No, I’LL do it!”  “NO, I’ll do it!” a few jillion times a day, and you’ve got the happy place that is my life.

If I was any kind of photographer, I would gladly share a few glorious pictures featuring my projects of late, but I stink at picture taking. I will, however, take a few mediocre pictures later today, and share tomorrow. For now, here’s one:

This photo is awesome, and was not taken by me, but by my lovely sister-in-law Monica.

Pretty huh?
